AMCP supports increased access to Prescription Digital Therapeutics (PDTs). PDTs are software-based therapies that deliver clinical benefits to patients, either alone or in combination with other forms of treatment. These therapeutics require a prescription and are subject to oversight by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). To be approved by the FDA, PDTs must demonstrate both safety and efficacy.

The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) today launched the AMCP Research Institute (ARI), a research-based resource that will conduct and facilitate projects important to the mission of managed care pharmacy. Incorporating AMCP’s existing Biologics & Biosimilars Collective Intelligence Consortium (BBCIC), the ARI will expand the scope of research opportunities for AMCP, thereby helping to advance the larger goal of improving public health in the United States.

On Feb. 15, 2024, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan: Draft Part Two Guidance and a Fact Sheet to provide guidance on education and outreach requirements for the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan (M3P), which was established by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). AMCP submitted comments in response to this Guidance on March 15, 2024.
