Mentor Programs
AMCP and the AMCP Foundation have numerous mentor programs at AMCP meetings and throughout the year. With each program, we seek volunteers to act as mentors and mentees.
Conference Buddy Program
This popular mentor program matches student pharmacists or new practitioners with seasoned managed care pharmacists to increase visibility and awareness of managed care pharmacy. These pairings meet informally at AMCP national meetings to discuss the industry, career pathways, and AMCP resources available to help student pharmacists and new practitioners grow. The program takes place at AMCP Annual and Nexus each year. To participate, individuals must sign up through the meeting registration system.
AMCP Foundation Poster Development Mentor Program
Through the AMCP and AMCP Foundation Joint Research Committee (JRC), senior researchers are paired with non-reviewed abstract authors ahead of AMCP national conferences. Following acceptance of their abstract by JMCP, student pharmacists, residents, and fellow authors receive an email inviting them to request a mentor. Non-reviewed authors who request a mentor are paired one-on-one with JRC members and volunteers who assist in laying out their posters and visually communicating their research results. This program is held annually before the AMCP Annual and Nexus events. Trainees developing managed care research projects are encouraged to review JRC’s video series, “Poster Development and Presentation Resources.”
AMCP Foundation Poster Presentation Mentor Program
For non-reviewed abstract authors who were not selected as finalists in the Best Poster Competition, AMCP Foundation offers the opportunity to receive valuable feedback on their research and presentation. Our dedicated mentors provide one-on-one guidance during poster presentations, spending 5-15 minutes with each presenter onsite. This program is held annually at both the AMCP Annual and Nexus events. To get involved and give back, please visit the AMCP Foundation website and sign up to become a mentor.
Mock Fellowship and Residency Interview Program
This program matches up P4s interested in pursuing a fellowship with a volunteer to conduct a mock interview and review their CV. The goal is to prepare student pharmacist members for their interviews. The Schools of Pharmacy Relations Committee has developed guidelines and discussion points for volunteers to guide the interview. AMCP Fellowship mock interviews take place in September/early October. Mock Residency Interviews take place in January. Sign-ups open in August, with information sent to all members and P4s about volunteering.
