Experiential Education Preceptor Award

DESCRIPTION:
The AMCP Experiential Education Preceptor Award was established in 2014 to recognize an AMCP member making a significant contribution to managed care pharmacy by being a preceptor to student pharmacists for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) and/or Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) focused in managed care pharmacy.

Note: For recognition of those who are program directors or preceptors for post-graduate year one managed care pharmacy residency programs, see AMCP Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Director/Residency Preceptor Award.

CRITERIA:
An AMCP member who has served as a preceptor for an IPPE and/or APPE for student pharmacists.

NOMINATION PROCESS:
Nominations can be made by an AMCP member or staff person, a current student pharmacist, an experiential education director at a school/college of pharmacy, or anyone who is knowledgeable about the recipient’s service as an APPE and/or IPPE preceptor. Each nomination must include a nomination form and a maximum 500-word statement that describes the nominee’s service as a preceptor and how they have contributed to advancing managed care pharmacy in a student pharmacist’s education. Self-nominations are permitted.

SELECTION PROCESS:
The recipient is selected by a selection committee composed of at least three members of the AMCP School of Pharmacy Relations Committee. The recipient of this award is not eligible to be selected as the recipient of the AMCP Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Director/Preceptor Award in the same year. The recipient is selected based on the information included in the nomination.

NATURE OF AWARD:
The AMCP Preceptor Award is presented annually at the Annual Meeting. The recipient receives a plaque, complimentary registration to the AMCP Annual Meeting, and travel reimbursement (up to $1,000). AMCP will make a $500 contribution on behalf of the recipient to the school/college of pharmacy of their choice.
