What’s Ahead for Managed Care Pharmacy in 2022

It’s New Year’s resolution time, when many people find themselves recommitting to goals like getting more exercise or spending wisely. But what are you committing to in your professional life?

Grow Your Network

Forbes Senior Contributor Dana Brownlee suggests one simple resolution that can improve your effectiveness — investing more time in relationship building. Brownlee writes: “The truth is that people are much more motivated to share information or go the extra mile for someone they know and like, so taking time to cultivate genuine relationships isn’t a superfluous luxury. It’s a critical element for success in a work world that’s increasingly transactional, offering rare opportunities for genuine connection.”

We know professional relationships go beyond those made with people at your company. In fact, AMCP strives to create online and in-person opportunities that expand your knowledge and your network. This year, it also is imperative our work continues to advance our strategic priorities of optimizing value and access and addressing health disparities.

Find out how AMCP can help you make connections, expand your knowledge, and improve patient outcomes. For example, registration is now open for AMCP 2022, March 29-April 1, in Chicago. With the theme “Defining Managed Care Pharmacy’s Future,” the managed care pharmacy profession will come together for innovative educational experiences and future-focused presentations. And, of course, this is a vital opportunity for nurturing and expanding professional relationships.

Recommit to Your Professional Growth

Most importantly, as you consider your professional relationships, join AMCP or renew your membership. As an AMCP member, you are connected to more than 8,000 professionals working for health plans, PBMs, and other organizations that support and inform managed care pharmacy.

Expand Your Knowledge

Another important opportunity is the Health Disparities Summit, hosted by AMCP June 9, 2022. The summit aims to address racial and socioeconomic health disparities from the managed care pharmacy perspective. Attendees will learn about the state of health disparities, discuss what these health disparities look like at the patient level, and focus on how managed care pharmacy can make a positive impact. The event is free to AMCP members, and registration information will be available soon.

I wish you much success in 2022 as you strive to improve health care outcomes and help patients get the medications they need at a cost they can afford.
