Leading the Charge: AMCP Advocacy Day 2025 Marks a Powerful Step Forward

Group in front of capitol

Each year, AMCP Legislative Days remind us of the power of collective action in shaping health care policy. That power was on full display as 56 of our dedicated members headed to Capitol Hill to advocate for legislation that will transform patient access to high-value, pharmacist-supported care.

This year, we shattered previous records—not only in participation but in impact.

We held 98 meetings with congressional offices, eight of them at the member level. These weren’t just conversations—they were strategic, issue-focused engagements that brought the voice of managed care pharmacy directly to the policymakers shaping the future of our health system.

AMCP Member-Congressional Meeting

Our members advocated for three key legislative priorities:

  1. The Access to Prescription Digital Therapeutics Act of 2025 (H.R. 3288/S. 1702)
  2. The Medicaid VBPs for Patients (MVP) Act (S. 1637)
  3. Ensuring Community Access to Pharmacist Services Act (H.R. 3164)

We also had the honor of recognizing two champions of pharmacy policy: Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), this year’s recipients of AMCP’s 2025 Achievement in Pharmacy Policy Award. As lead sponsors of the PDT Act, both senators have shown unwavering commitment to expanding access to digital health solutions—recognizing that innovation must be paired with access to deliver true value.

What stood out this year wasn’t just the number of meetings—it was the quality of the conversations. Lawmakers and staff engaged deeply with our concerns. They asked smart questions. They listened. And that’s because our advocates showed up prepared—with real-world stories, clinical insights, and a firm belief in the value of the work we do.

As we reflect on this momentum, I want to thank all our advocates. Whether you’ve joined us on the Hill for years or this was your first time walking through the halls of Congress, your voice matters—and your impact is real.

If you couldn’t be with us this year, we hope you’ll consider joining the movement. Advocacy isn’t reserved only for association leaders and health policy experts. It’s for anyone who believes patients deserve better access, smarter care, and a system that rewards patient outcomes.

So, mark your calendar. We’ll be back next May, and we’d love for you to be part of it. In the meantime, stay up to date on our advocacy efforts and events, and learn more about AMCP’s Pharmacy Policy Summit coming up in October 2025.
