CMS Guidance to Part D Plans Allows Pharmacist Authorization of Emergency Refills When Prescribers Are Unavailable
On Friday, April 3, 2020, CMS issued guidance to Part D plans that the agency will exercise its enforcement discretion to allow pharmacists to authorize emergency refills when prescribers are not available to provide refill renewal prescriptions, when consistent with State emergency declarations.
