AMCP Receives 2025 Power of Associations Silver Award for Addressing Health Disparities in Medication Use and Access Awareness Campaign
Alexandria, VA – Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) has been recognized as a Power of Associations Silver Award by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) for its successful Health Disparities in Medication Use and Access Awareness initiative.
AMCP is actively addressing disparities in medication use and access through a multifaceted approach that integrates data-driven decision-making, education, and policy advocacy. AMCP emphasizes the importance of collecting and analyzing data on race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status to inform equitable formulary design, benefit offerings, and clinical interventions. Managed care pharmacy professionals play a pivotal role by conducting cost-effectiveness and health outcomes research, managing chronic diseases, and promoting preventive care such as immunizations and screenings. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these professionals leveraged population-wide data to identify care gaps and mobilize targeted resources, demonstrating the critical impact of managed care in advancing health equity. AMCP also supports the development of a health equity–focused workforce through training and education initiatives aimed at ensuring all patients have access to high-quality, culturally competent care
“Congratulations to AMCP for exemplifying the impact associations have on the industries and professions they represent, and on society at large,” said ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE. “It’s always so incredibly satisfying to see associations going above and beyond their everyday mission to change the world. We’re very proud to spotlight this award-winning initiative.”
“We used an omnichannel approach, including our national meetings, with over 3,000 attendees, AMCP Learn webinar platform, social media, email communications, a dedicated resource page on AMCP.org, AMCP Foundation Research Symposium on Health Disparities and articles in JMCP, AMCP’s peer-reviewed scientific journal.” Said AMCP VP of Marketing Erica Klinger.
“This campaign allowed us to develop new partnerships. Our partners have included patient advocacy organizations such as the Skin of Color Society and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of the Midwest, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion corporate teams.”
