AMCP Foundation Adds Two New Members to Board of Trustees

Alexandria, Va., July 5, 2018 — The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of Susan Shiff, PhD, MBA; and Mary C. Young, MHPA, CEBS, to the Foundation’s 11-member Board of Trustees. 

The AMCP Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Academy. The Board of Trustees supports the Foundation’s educational and research mission to improve health outcomes by developing managed care pharmacy leaders. The 2018-19 Board began its term at the conclusion of the recent AMCP Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy Annual Meeting.

Dr. Shiff is Senior Vice President and Head of the Center for Observational and Real-World Evidence at Merck & Co, Inc. She has 20 years of experience in executive management, real world data, artificial intelligence, health economics, epidemiology, outcomes research, market access, pricing and safety risk management. 

 Ms. Young is Vice President of National Accounts at Cigna. She has more than 25 years of experience advising Fortune 100 clients and large public sector entities about their health care strategies, both in and outside the U.S. Her current responsibilities include ensuring Cigna’s services and products meet clients’ current and future needs.

Recent AMCP Foundation programming included last fall’s 7th Annual Research Symposium, “Value-Based Health Care: Identifying Benefits for Patients, Providers and Payers.” The Foundation is entering the next phase of its research on Emerging Trends in Health Care. In addition, the Foundation organizes the National Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Competition, which draws dozens of teams from schools of pharmacy nationwide, and organizes a series of managed care internships.

The elected Foundation Officers continue their two-year terms through 2019. Allan J. Chernov, MD, is President; Kathleen Moreo, RN, BSN, CCM, Cm, CDMS of PRIME Education, Inc. is Vice President; and Christopher V. Goff, Esq. of Employers Health is Treasurer. 

The Foundation recognizes the contributions of Lynn Franzoi, President at LLF Consulting, LLC and Newell McElwee, PharmD, MSPH, Vice President, Health Economics and Outcomes Research at Boehringer-Ingelheim who concluded their service on the Board within the past year.
