AMCP Statement on Rutledge v. PCMA Decision

Alexandria, Va., Dec. 10, 2020 – Following the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the case of Rutledge v. PCMA, AMCP released the below statement.

Statement from Susan Cantrell, chief executive officer of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy:

“We are disappointed with the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision, which opens the door to varying and complex state laws that could make it challenging, if not impossible, for managed care professionals to efficiently apply proven tools and practices that provide millions of patients the best possible benefits for their prescribed medications at the lowest possible costs.

“While this may be a setback, we will continue to work with state and federal policymakers in pursuit of our goal to ensure that Americans can get the medications they need at a cost they can afford.”
