Integrating Evidence-Based Guidelines for the Use of MAT into Managed Care Policies and Procedures
Webinar Recorded on Nov. 30, 2016
According to the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Standards of Care all patients with substance use disorders should be offered MAT. Currently, less than 20% of patients currently take MAT for addictive disorders. Utilization management policies for patients with substance use disorder must recognize that every patient is unique, and therapy often needs to be customized. Managed care organizations are in a unique position to provide appropriate provider education and quality incentives to ensure compliance with evidence-based guidelines and facilitate the use of MAT. This program will:
- Discuss current ASAM guidelines and other clinical guidance regarding MAT
- Review the current MAT options for patients with substance use disorder
- Provide an overview of best practices for MAT policies and procedures
- Share resources that can be used by pharmacists and primary care physicians on addiction and the recommended use of MAT
