Three Reasons to Visit JMCP.org

JMCP’s Editor-in-Chief shares three reasons to check out JMCP’s new website, including the Managed Care Pharmacy Primer Series, timely papers on implementation of the IRA, and JMCP’s policy on AI.

Do you love opening the mailbox and discovering that the latest issue of JMCP has arrived? I must admit, I am excited to cozy up on the couch with a cup of coffee and turn the pages each month when my new issue arrives.

But during my workdays, I routinely access the latest managed care pharmacy research online. And thanks to the all-new JMCP website, with its fresh and captivating look, it’s easier than ever to find, explore, and share articles.

Here are three things you won’t want to miss on JMCP.org:

1) Check out the new AMCP Managed Care Pharmacy Primer Series (#MCPprimers).

In December, we are launching the first in a series of primers that explains managed care pharmacy concepts in clear, accessible language that can be understood by readers who are not experts in the field. The primers are a resource that you can leverage to inform your business partners, legislators, students, patients and their advocates, and health care practitioners about the complex work of managed care pharmacy.

The primer series is a tribute to the memory of AMCP’s first CEO, Judith A Cahill, who advocated for initiatives — like this one — to inform the public about managed care pharmacy. The primers, along with AMCP’s recently launched Value of Managed Care Pharmacy report, advance Judy’s legacy.

To learn more about how you can help carry her legacy forward, visit the Judith A. Cahill Memorial Fund, (#CahillLegacy).

2) Explore winning papers on price negotiation in Medicare.

In mid-December, we will announce the winners of the PhRMA Foundation’s Challenge Award. The winning papers provide a road map for CMS to incorporate evidence review into their negotiation of maximum fair price.

We will release these and related papers online in the coming weeks to ensure that they are promptly in the public domain as CMS enters into the negotiation period at the beginning of 2024. We will also publish a special themed issue on the IRA in March of 2024.

Follow us on LinkedIn for updates on when these important papers are released.

3) Learn about JMCP’s new artificial intelligence (AI) policy.

While there are many positive uses for generative AI, AI can introduce serious concerns for peer-reviewed publishing. In line with the World Association of Medical Editors, we have updated our policies to provide guardrails on how AI can — and cannot — be used. For example, can use generative AI for writing assistance as long as the authors acknowledge it. However, AI cannot be listed as an author.

Authors and peer-reviewers should familiarize themselves with our new policy in JMCP’s Author Guidelines and Policies
