Published in the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy (JMCP) Volume 30, Number 8 in May 2024, this real-world analysis of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) therapies for obesity treatment among commercially insured individuals without diabetes found low persistence and adherence rates at one year. Only 32.3% remained on therapy, and 27.2% were adherent. Persistence varied by product, with semaglutide showing the highest rates. These findings inform cost-effectiveness assessments, obesity care management strategies, and value-based contracting for GLP-1 therapies.
