Managed Care Industry Convenes in Washington, DC for AMCP Nexus 2025
Thousands of managed care pharmacy professionals from health plans, PBMs, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and other managed care organizations convened in National Harbor, MD, from Oct. 27-31 for AMCP Nexus 2025. Co-located at Nexus was our inaugural Pharmacy Policy Summit, which will continue to be held in the Washington, DC metropolitan area in years to come.
Attendees connected with peers from across the diverse roles of managed care, discussed the key trends impacting their work, and expanded their perspectives through industry-leading education sessions featuring resources from AMCP Learn, AMCP Foundation, the AMCP Research Institute (ARI), and the Biologics & Biosimilars Collective Intelligence Consortium (BBCIC).
"Every single day, our members are trying to make things better for patients in a responsible way. Steps like relaxing or eliminating prior authorizations for certain chronic condition treatments strike the right balance between simplifying the experience for patients while still ensuring that prescriptions are used safely and appropriately."
- AMCP CEO, Susan Cantrell, MHL, RPh, CAE
The event featured speakers from across all areas of managed care pharmacy, as well as an insightful outside perspective from former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan in a keynote address. Speaker Ryan has been closer than most to the processes behind the nation’s health care system, and his message was of the necessity for significant reform. “Our social contract is a healthy retirement security for all Americans and a safety net for the poor. Medicaid is a big part of the safety net. The challenge we have as a society is that we designed the social contract in the 20th century in a way that is proving fiscally unsustainable in the 21st century,” said Ryan.
