Educational/Special Requirements
To be considered for the program, you must have the following qualifications:
-Pharm.D. from a U.S.-accredited program
-Licensure in New Jersey
-Strong analytical abilities
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
For residency consideration, the following materials will need to be submitted by January 1:
-Curriculum vitae
-Official or unofficial transcripts for all pharmacy education directly from the school
-Three letters of recommendation from health care professionals who can attest to your abilities and aptitudes submitted by the recommender
-Letter of intent detailing your career objectives and summarizing why you are pursuing this residency at Horizon If you're a qualified candidate, you may expect:
-A phone interview
-An onsite or virtual interview, upon invitation
-To conduct a 15-minute presentation on a newly approved drug (drug will be provided in advance)
Special Features
Horizon NJ Health, part of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, is New Jersey’s largest managed care organization serving publicly insured individuals in the State of New Jersey’s Medicaid program, NJ FamilyCare. The Residency in Managed Care at Horizon NJ Health is a one-year, post-Pharm.D. specialized training program geared toward the development of clinical skills in a managed care setting. As a vital part of the health care management team, residents will take part in aspects of managed care that represent current and future areas of growth. Residents will have the opportunity to work with the state’s largest and most experienced health insurer to help transform the delivery of health care in New Jersey.
