Special Features
This internship aims to develop future leaders in managed health care through exposure to population health and managed care pharmacy principles via concepts such as formulary management, benefit design, medication therapy management, and adherence management focusing on oncology. Working directly with pharmacists and other health care team members in oncology, specialty pharmacy, or related interns will show how managed care pharmacy principles are used to maximize health care resources and patient care outcomes.
All participants will be exposed to the pharmaceutical industry through Pfizer Field Medical Directors, a professional membership organization (AMCP), and a public charity (AMCP Foundation). As a part of the structured ten-week internship program, student pharmacists will be matched with virtual preceptors and present capstone research projects at AMCP Nexus. This exposure will ensure that interns experience a well-rounded program.
