Legislative and Regulatory Action Committee

Mission

To assist AMCP staff in developing and implementing effective federal and state advocacy strategies that promote AMCP’s priority policy issues.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of the Pharmacy Advocacy Leaders program and periodically advise on improvements, as necessary.
  • Advise AMCP staff on certain advocacy materials as appropriate.
  • Advise AMCP staff in developing AMCP’s annual legislative and regulatory priority issues.
  • Participate in the Legislative Days program and federal and state outreach, as requested.
  • Provide input to AMCP staff on federal and state legislation impacting managed care pharmacy.

Composition

The Legislative and Regulatory Action Committee is composed of 11 to 15 active AMCP members from any non-student category, including the Chair and Vice Chair, one non-voting student pharmacist member, and one non-voting representative from the Pharmacy Advocacy Leaders (PAL) program to be decided by consensus of the Pharmacy Advocacy Leaders.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with volunteers and participating in political advocacy programs.
  • Knowledge of state and/or federal legislative and regulatory processes.

Term of Appointment

Committee members are appointed for one-year terms. Committee members may be appointed for up to three consecutive one-year terms.

Time Commitment

Committee members are expected to attend all meetings, including AMCP national meetings, monthly conference calls, and ad hoc meetings as needed. In addition, members are expected to complete project work as assigned and participate in Legislative Days.
