As a professional association, AMCP leads the way to help patients get the medications they need at a cost they can afford – and every year, we seek to continue to strengthen our efforts as represented by our Strategic Priorities.  

AMCP’s strategic priorities are designed to provide flexibility given the ever-changing health care landscape and adapted and refocused based on the needs of our members and the patients they serve. 

Optimize Value and Access 

“Help members and stakeholders improve healthcare access, affordability, and outcomes” 

AMCP encourages the exchange of ideas among stakeholders to identify solutions that optimize patients' health outcomes and address barriers to care access. Our focus includes value, access, affordability, technologies, and quality. To achieve this, we work to provide resources to help payers evaluate digital therapeutics, promote the adoption of biosimilars, provide tools to incorporate the patient perspective into formulary decision-making and evaluate the implications of measures to reduce drug costs, including the Inflation Reduction Act.
 

Address Disparities In Medication Use & Access

“Address barriers to access and the effective use of medications and other therapies” 

AMCP supports opportunities to leverage managed care pharmacy to address disparities in medication access, use, and outcomes. To achieve this, we create awareness and identify opportunities to mitigate disparities in medication use from a managed care perspective, provide tools to incorporate the patient perspective into healthcare decision-making and encourage research into disparities in medication use.
 

Amplify AMCP Value & Voice

“Grow our membership and make AMCP essential to those involved in managed care pharmacy”

Managed care pharmacy has a small footprint in the health care industry but influences the lives of 300 million Americans. By growing membership and utilizing the expertise of its members and corporate partners, AMCP will ensure that managed care pharmacy is a leader in national discussions on efforts to optimize value and access and address health disparities.
