Educational/Special Requirements: 
Enrolled in, or graduated from, an accredited pharmacy program. Eligible for Oregon pharmacist licensure and licensure obtained within 90 days of the start of the residency program. If pharmacist licensure is not obtained prior to start of residency, an Oregon pharmacist intern license will be required upon start of the program.

Special Features: 
The Providence Health Plan (PHP) Managed Care residency program is designed to provide a solid foundation in population-based pharmaceutical care. Primary emphasis is placed on providing experience, and developing skills, in formulary management, medication therapy management, evidence-based medicine, and prior authorization review. The resident will also be involved in projects and initiatives related to utilization management, quality and outcome assessment, drug information, and operational aspects of a pharmacy benefit manager. As part of an integrated health system, the resident will have learning experiences based mostly at PHP, with opportunities at other pharmacy sites throughout Providence Health and Services (PH&S) in Portland, Oregon. Through the resident Citywide program, residents develop leadership skills and also have the opportunity to complete an elective Teaching Certificate program offered jointly through Oregon State University and Pacific University colleges of pharmacy. Other electives offered include administration, transitions of care and ambulatory care. The resident will complete the residency having developed a multitude of skills in population health management and be prepared to be a pharmacist leader in the managed care setting.
